Intermediate Ladies Spring Tune-Up Program

Dates: May 10, 17, 24 and 31
Time: TBD 2 – 2.5 hour sessions
Cost: $300.00
Location: Banff/Canmore

  • Mountain biking has started to become your "thing".
  • You are comfortable riding the flatter or even bumpier blue/green rated trails but would like to see what some more technical (roots, rocks and steep stuff) blue or even black terrain looks like (just to clarify, that doesn’t mean I have to ride it right?).
  • You have taken a mountain bike skills course before or you have many seasons of riding under your belt and a good knowledge of the fundamental skills.
  • You are comfortable with operating your controls (one-finger braking, smooth shifting most of the time), body position and balance, (flat feet, bum out your seat!).
  • You make great line/trail choices and ride within your limits (you just want to expand that limit in a safe and supervised environment).
  • You want to go faster on the flats, not feel like you are having a heart attack on the hills and are willing to put in a couple of rides a week to progress your fitness and skills.
  • You are comfortable on roll downs and could be convinced to start getting ready for some small jumps and drops.

  • 10 hours of safe, supervised single track training under your belt.
  • Some more confidence and exposure to riding sections of trail and trails you said to yourself that “You would NEVER be able to ride”.
  • More flexibility/range of motion in your body position on the bike.
  • Better braking control at higher speeds.
  • Better ability to anticipate changes in terrain, to gaze a bit further down the trail and shift smoothly and often.
  • More comfortable compressing your suspension to get over small (a couple of inches high) obstacles.
  • Even more expert tips on bike mechanical skills, mapping, emergency skills, tricks on how and where to ride (now faster and with more skills) with your kids, how to fuel/hydrate/pack for your rides, how to meet other like-minded ladies (outside of the rad girls you will meet in the group that are in the same boat as you!).
  • Those steep, daunting downhills are not nearly as scary and you might try them on your own sometime soon.
  • You know what “mechanical skills” means and you actually have some!
  • You may overcome your overwhelming fear of what it takes to hit some small jumps and drops.

Beginner Ladies Skills Program

Dates: June 1, 8, 15 and 22
Time: TBD 2 – 2.5 hour sessions
Cost: $300.00
Location: Banff/Canmore

  • You have never taken a mountain bike skills lesson.
  • You have or have not ridden a mountain bike on a dirt trail and the thought of it makes you nervous.
  • You have not ridden a bike since before you had kids and are terrified to get back on one.
  • Your kids and or partner can ride circles around you and you feel pressure when riding with either/all of them (i.e. you feel it’s really just not that fun).
  • You have or don’t have your own mountain bike but think you would like to give it a try in a controlled environment with tons of support and encouragement before committing to an upgraded bike, a bike of your own and/or the sport in general.
  • You have little to no idea what most of the parts of a bike are called outside of “bike” and “wheels” (but you make the best macaroni and cheese on the planet!).
  • Your expert partner has tried to “teach” you and you just can’t seem to get a handle on it or are just not interested in taking any instructions from them when it comes to riding bikes.

  • 10 hours of safe, supervised, training under your belt
  • With the fundamental skills to help you maintain control, balance and positioning, knowing what to expect out on the trails, how to ride at your own pace, knowing how to operate all the components of your bike (gears, brakes, dropper seatpost)
  • Expert tips on basic bike mechanical skills, mapping, emergency skills, tricks on how and where to ride with your kids, how to fuel/hydrate/pack for your rides, how to meet other like minded ladies (outside of the rad girls you will meet in the group that are in the same boat as you!)
  • Exuberating the confidence you need to show off the ear to ear grin on your face, cause you are having that much fun now
  • Ready for the next level MTB skills lesson ! Yahoo!
