Private Mountain Bike Tours FAQs

We offer guided rides in Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise and Kananaskis. All tours are catered to your skill level and desired terrain. We are the ONLY Mountain Bike Guide Operation in Banff National Park so we love to showcase our own backyard!

Private sessions and tours start at two hours. Within the Banff area trail network, we feel that a 4 hour session or tour would cover most of the terrain we have to showcase.

Typically we meet at Tunnel Mountain Reservoir in Banff, AB. (See map embedded on Private Tours page) That said, depending on where you are staying and your terrain preference we can customize the meeting location to suit your needs.

You can park for free along Tunnel Mountain Road when riding in Banff. You Guide will advise of other meeting points should you be riding outside of Banff.

What is an electric mountain bike? Electric pedal assist mountain bikes, or e-MTBs, amplify the power you put into the bike while pedaling. When you stop pedaling, the motor stops assisting. You still have to earn your fun, but you get a better return on your energy investment. You are permitted to ride on most gravel pathways and single track trails within the Tunnel Mountain Trail Network. Riding an e-bike allows you to cover more terrain, with less effort in half the time.

We do not offer any transport to the trail head. That said, we can certainly work with you to offer easy access and suggestions on how to get to the meeting point via car, local bus or taxi.

Full Suspension Mountain Bike (Green, blue and black rated, single track trail rides)
Front Suspension e-Mountain bike (Green and Blue rated, single track trail rides)
Hybrid e-bike (Gravel and paved pathway tours)

Private Tours are custom suited to your ability. You should be comfortable riding some type of human propelled, two wheeled bicycle prior to taking a private tour. That said, we are happy to offer a skills session within your private session. If your instructor feels you do not have the fundamental skills to ride a mountain bike on green and blue rated single track trails, you may not be able to participate.

Please be prepared for the mountain weather, it changes quickly. A raincoat is mandatory as you never know when to expect a shower.

To ensure that you enjoy the tour, please wear/bring:

  • Photo ID for each adult (18+) for waiver verification
  • A rain jacket - required!
  • Flat soled shoes if you have them, or your own specific flat or clip-less MTB shoes.
  • Full fingered gloves and protective eyewear (sunglasses or safety glasses)
  • Helmets are mandatory and included in tour cost.
  • Dress in thin layers in order to be mobile and remove if necessary
  • A backpack with water, snacks and room to store layers

We ride in all weather conditions, that said, thunder and lightning are not safe nor fun. In this case, we will assess the morning of and make a plan to reschedule if need be.
