We have two different fat tire ebike bike tours to offer based on your skills, fitness, bike experience and what you want to see on your tour.
TASTE OF THE TRAILS WINTER BIKE TOUR
Our most scenic, off the beaten path experience. An easy introduction to riding a pedal assist fat tire bike on green rated single track, multi use trails and pathways in Banff National Park. This tour is suitable for beginner mountain bikers or intermediate riders looking for a fun, scenic tour of our favourite Banff mountain bike trails. You MUST know how to ride a bike comfortably in order to join this tour.
Experience level: Must know how to start and stop a bike independently, shift gears and apply brakes safely.
Fitness Level: Should be comfortable with a minimum of 2 hours of continuous cardiovascular activity (run/jog, bike, hike)
Terrain: A mix of green rated, multi-use trails, gravel pathways and off the beaten path roadways.

ULTIMATE INTERMEDIATE WINTER EBIKE TOUR
Our local Intermediate e-bike tour featuring some of the best single track that Banff has to offer. This is the “Ultimate” Fat Tire eBike experience in the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains of Banff, AB. These trails are specifically groomed for Winter Fat tire Biking by the local trail crew – The Bow Valley Mountain Bike Alliance. This tour is suitable for experienced cyclists or intermediate to advanced riders looking for some more challenging terrain. An above average level of fitness and good cycling skills and or athleticism are required in order to take part in this tour.
Experience level: You own a bicycle of any kind and cycle on a somewhat regular basis – (whether that be commuting, weekend warrior or simply are known for taking on adventurous activities while on vacation)
Fitness Level: Should be comfortable with a minimum of 2 hours of continuous moderate to high cardiovascular activity (run/jog, bike, hike)
Terrain: A mix of green and blue rated single track

SUNDANCE LODGE – INTERMEDIATE BACKCOUNTRY TOUR
Our intermediate, winter fat tire ebike tour featuring THE BEST groomed fat biking trails in all of Banff National Park! This is the “Ultimate” Fat bike experience in the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains of Banff, AB. This is a perfect tour for those looking to safely get into the backcountry while enjoying a gourmet lunch at Sundance lunch mid tour!. An above average level of fitness and good cycling skills and or athleticism are required in order to take part in this tour.
Experience level: You own a bicycle of any kind and cycle on a somewhat regular basis – (whether that be commuting, weekend warrior or simply are known for taking on adventurous activities while on vacation). Ideally, you have some experience with being active in cold weather (-10 to -20 degrees Celsius with a additional windchills)
Fitness Level: Should be comfortable with a minimum of 3 hours of continuous moderate cardiovascular activity (run/jog, bike, hike)
Terrain: Meander up a steady 10km climb on a double wide, snowmobile packed trail into the backcountry. then fly back down the same trail in half the time.

WHAT TO PACK FOR YOUR WINTER FAT BIKE TOUR:
*Note for e-bike tours, you will generate much less body heat than you think, fingers and toes are the most important to keep warm*
- Warm winter boots and thick warm socks or heated socks (but only if you have a pair!)
- Hand and Toe warmers if you tend to get cold fingers and toes
- Warm, full-fingered gloves (not mitts) and protective eyewear (ski goggles/sunglasses)
- Helmets are mandatory and included in the tour cost. Feel free to bring your own. Ski helmets totally work and tend to be warmer than bike helmets on colder days
- Two neck warmers or buffs – one to to fit under a helmet and one for around your neck
- Snow pants & Winter Jackets are essential in any temperatures below zero. Gear can be rented from stores in Banff such as Snowtips-Bactrax
- Dress in thin layers in order to be mobile and remove if necessary.
- A backpack with hot water and room to store layers.
Please note that safety is our first priority. If the guide believes your attire or fitness/skill level does not meet the requirements, or isn’t appropriate and compromises your safety, you may not be able to participate. Do you offer transportation?
We do not offer any transport to the trail head. That said, we can certainly work with you to offer easy access and suggestions on how to get to the meeting point via car, local bus or taxi.

What if I don't know how to ride a bike very well?
Book a private Bike Tour/Session, we can teach you! Alternatively, our Cross Country Ski Tours are PERFECT for those who have never skied before.
Is the tour cancelled if it is too cold?
We want you to enjoy your experience so If the temperature dips below -15 degrees Celsius, we will not run the tour and we would be pleased to reschedule your booking.
What is the cancel policy?
Tours cancelled more than 7 days prior to the tour start date and time are 100% refundable minus a 5% administration fee. Group tours cancelled within 3-7 days prior to the tour start date and time will receive a 50% refund. All tours cancelled within 72 hours of the tour start date and time are non-refundable. Tours can be postponed to an alternate date at the sole discretion of Bikescape. Any refunds for payments made by credit card will be subject to a 5% administration fee. Fees for refunds of payments made by e-transfer to a CAD bank account made in CAD dollars may be assessed an up to 5% administration fee.
Should I tip my guide?
Gratuities are not included in tour cost and are not mandatory but are always appreciated should you receive exceptional service. That said, given no one carries cash anymore, we have an option to add a gratuity to your order. (If you would prefer to wait until after your tour to offer a gratuity, you may do so with cash, e-transfer. Please contact us directly should you wish to use your payment method used on file.) Exceptional service is customarily recognized with anywhere from 10%-20% of cost of your tour.
